 Abstract 

The article analyses amendments to the Federal Law of 31.05.2002 no. 63-FZ "On Advocacy and Advocacy in the Russian Federation," which enshrined the concept of "success fee" in advocacy. The authors considered the position of scholars regarding the introduction of those changes, reviewed jurisprudence and concluded that there were two opposing views on the need to enshrine the provisions on the fee of a lawyer's success in the legislation of the Russian Federation. The article analyses the foreign practice of legal regulation of the re-muneration of a lawyer for providing legal assistance to clients. The authors concluded that the success rate was a positive phenomenon for the Russian legal sys-tem, which was an additional incentive for the quality of the lawyer's work and it was possible for the poor to receive qualified legal assistance.
